United States President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday that he had instructed billionaire entrepreneur and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk to review government spending, including the Pentagon and the Department of Education, Reuters reported, quoted by BNR.
"We're going to go through everything," the president said during his press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
In addition, Trump said he planned to fire some of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents who worked on the cases of the January 6, 2021, Capitol invasion, and called them corrupt.
"These people are gone or will be gone, and it will happen quickly and very efficiently", the president said.
Meanwhile, Ed Martin, President Donald Trump's top federal prosecutor in Washington, announced on Friday that he had opened an investigation into government officials accused of theft of property and making threats, based on a recommendation from Elon Musk.
"Following your referral, as is my practice, I will open an investigation", Martin said in a letter posted on Musk's social media platform "X".
"If it is found that people have broken the law or "If they have even acted simply unethically, we will investigate them and pursue them to the ends of the Earth to hold them accountable," Martin wrote.
