Russia's Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine on Monday of attempting to attack Russian civilian infrastructure in three regions despite a temporary halt to such attacks agreed upon with US mediation, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
A statement from the diplomatic department states that Ukraine attempted to attack a gas storage facility on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia, as well as energy infrastructure in the Russian Kursk and Bryansk regions.
The Kremlin recalled that Russia and Ukraine had agreed within 30 days to cease attacks on infrastructure facilities such as oil refineries, oil and gas pipelines, nuclear power plants and others.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also noted that the decree by which President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian army to cease attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure was still in force. According to Peskov, the decree has been in effect since March 18, when Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump agreed on a 30-day ceasefire at energy facilities.
Earlier today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of damaging infrastructure in the city of Krivoy Rog and Sumy region in a drone attack overnight, adding that “this is a sign that Moscow will not strive for real peace“.
