China said it firmly opposes the US decision to revoke visas for Chinese students and urges Washington to take a more constructive approach to bilateral relations. This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, quoted by BTA.
Beijing officially protested the decision announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling it a hostile act.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said during a regular briefing that the US is using ideology and national security as a “pretext“ for actions that violate the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students.
