Moscow has taken note of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's statement regarding a possible review of Serbian military supplies following information released by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). This was announced by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, quoted by TASS and Serbian media, BTA reports.
Last week, the SVR announced that Serbian defense industry enterprises were supplying ammunition to Ukraine, despite Belgrade's official policy of neutrality.
During a briefing yesterday, Zakharova said that the Russian Foreign Ministry had taken note of President Vučić's comment in an interview with the national RTS television on the subject.
“We took into account the assurances expressed by the Serbian head of state that an audit of Belgrade's military-technical cooperation with foreign partners would be conducted in order to uncover possible machinations with end-user certificates. "We assume that the announced measures will ensure the timely registration and termination of suspicious export transactions and prevent the delivery of military products to inappropriate recipients," Zakharova said.
She added that Russia is convinced that the Serbian authorities are aware of the risks of weapons products falling into the hands of the "Kiev regime" and will take the necessary measures so as not to cast a shadow on the traditionally good relations between Moscow and Belgrade.
