Belgium is joining the international coalition in support of Ukraine for conducting electronic warfare, local media reported, citing a statement by Belgian Defense Minister Theo Franken, BTA reports.
The coalition, consisting of 11 countries, was created two months ago to help the Ukrainian armed forces improve communication systems, protect against drone attacks and deal with electronic signal jamming. Estonia, Italy, Sweden and Turkey are expected to join soon.
„Electronic warfare is an essential component of modern military conflicts. By participating in this coalition, Belgium is not only supporting Ukraine's defense capabilities, but also strengthening its own capabilities in this critical area,“ Minister Franken said.
The media notes that Belgium is already actively involved in various initiatives to support Ukraine, including the supply of fighter jets, minesweepers, information technology, ammunition, drones and air defense systems.
