Finland's Foreign Ministry said on Monday it had summoned Russia's top diplomat in Helsinki over an alleged violation of the country's airspace on Tuesday. It was the second such incident in just three weeks, Reuters reported, citing BTA.
According to authorities in Helsinki, NATO member Finland believes a Russian military plane illegally entered Finnish airspace near the coastal city of Porvoo, located on the Gulf of Finland. The case is currently being investigated by the Finnish Border Guard Service.
“The Foreign Ministry summoned the acting head of the Russian mission in Finland to discuss the incident“, the official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
