US President Donald Trump never directly mentioned Russia in his speech at the closed NATO leaders' meeting in The Hague, Bloomberg reported.

The publication notes that “the wording on Russia was carefully calibrated“ in the final communiqué adopted after the summit. Leaders of some countries wanted Russia to be called an aggressor in this document, but this proved impossible. Instead, the statement said that NATO considers Russia a “threat”, the agency points out, emphasizing that this disappointed Volodymyr Zelensky, who “looked quite depressed” throughout the summit.

According to the agency, the general impression of the US approach to the Ukrainian conflict is that Trump has "mostly washed his hands of efforts to achieve a ceasefire" in Ukraine.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that at a closed-door meeting with leaders of the North Atlantic Alliance in The Hague, Trump stated that the situation in Ukraine was "completely out of control" and expressed the opinion that "something needs to be done" about this state of affairs.
