Syrsky bans tent camps and extends training - 1

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, insisted on ensuring the security of servicemen in training centers in the rear and banned the gathering of a large number of soldiers and equipment in tent camps. This was reported by Ukrinform, referring to a post by Syrsky on “Facebook“, BTA reports.

According to him, the effectiveness of combat units, the number of neutralized opponents, and most importantly, the lives of Ukrainian soldiers directly depend on the quality of individual training.

“The period of basic general training will be extended from 49 to 51 days. The additional two days will be devoted to training to counter enemy drones – "one of the novelties in the sixth edition of the Air Defense Program, which is currently being finalized," the commander-in-chief said.

Sirsky stressed that the gathering of military personnel and equipment, as well as their deployment in open tent camps, is now strictly prohibited. Instead, new shelters, dugouts and protective facilities are being built in all training areas, and additional engineering solutions will be implemented to ensure the safety of personnel during training, recovery and stay in the rear.

He insisted on strict compliance with the requirements for the construction of protective facilities and rapid response to air alarms at training centers and ranges.

Responsibility for the organization and supervision of the training has already been assigned to the newly appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Igor Skibyuk.

Syrsky's order comes after a series of Russian missile attacks that revealed serious shortcomings in the organization and protection of the Ukrainian army's training areas, Reuters reports. In recent months, several strikes on training grounds in the rear have resulted in significant casualties.

Last month, the commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Mykhailo Drapati, resigned after a Russian strike on a training center killed 12 soldiers and wounded dozens more. In further attacks on May 20 and June 22, Russian missiles killed a total of nine soldiers and wounded dozens more during training at shooting ranges and training grounds.
