Since June 28, nearly 102 deaths related to extremely high temperatures have been registered in Spain, according to the Daily Monitoring System for Mortality from All Causes (MoMo), reports Focus.
The total number of deaths in June 2024, which was announced by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) as the hottest month in the country's history, reached 380, informs "Elmundo".
For comparison, a total of 2,168 deaths were registered in Spain for the first half of the year, and forecasts for the whole of 2024 point to 3,521 deaths.
