US President Donald Trump said that no progress had been made in ending the war in Ukraine during his phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin last night, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

He specified that the two discussed the situation in Iran and Ukraine.

Trump said, quoted by TASS, that the United States would continue to provide military assistance to Kiev, but they must proceed from the fact that Washington itself needs weapons.

"We will provide weapons, but we have already provided a lot of weapons. We provide weapons, we work with them (Kiev) to help them. But Biden devastated our country, giving them our weapons. We must ensure that there will be enough weapons for ourselves," he stressed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last night called on the European Union to strengthen its own defense industry, amid the partial suspension of American arms supplies, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

"We must build our own defense industry in Europe so that Russia cannot surpass us in any area," Zelensky said at a dinner dedicated to the Danish presidency of the EU Council in Aarhus.

Arms supplies to Ukraine, along with new tough sanctions against Russia, are key to European security, he stressed.

Zelensky said the sanctions should be such that Moscow no longer receives anything that could be used to produce weapons.
