European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Donald Trump had a "good conversation" on Sunday, a Commission spokesman said, quoted by "Reuters", reports News.bg.
According to the spokesman, the European Union's goal remains to reach a trade agreement with Washington by July 9. "We want to reach an agreement with the US and avoid tariffs that we believe are causing damage. We are aiming for win-win outcomes for all, not losers," he stressed during the daily press briefing.
The Donald Trump administration announced that it will send letters to trading partners that have not concluded an agreement by July 9, notifying them of the introduction of higher tariffs, which will take effect from August 1.
