European Parliament discusses vote of no confidence against Ursula von der Leyen  - 1

The European Parliament is within its right to demand a vote of no confidence against the President of the European Commission, a Commission spokesman said during a press conference in response to questions. He confirmed that Ursula von der Leyen will attend the debates on the topic scheduled for tonight in Strasbourg, BTA reports.

The speaker noted that European Commissioners are usually in Strasbourg during a session of the European Parliament and will probably attend the debates.

According to the parliament's program, today MEPs will devote 30 minutes to discussing the submitted vote of no confidence against the President of the EC. The vote is scheduled for Thursday and will be by roll call. In order to be adopted, the proposal must must obtain a two-thirds majority of the votes cast.

The motion of no confidence against Ursula von der Leyen was submitted by a Romanian MEP and is related to the “Pfizergate“ case. In case of a successful vote, the entire European Commission must resign, but preliminary expectations are that the motion will be rejected.
