The Kremlin continues to use the aggressive rhetoric of the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, in order to undermine support for American military aid to Ukraine. This is likely part of a coordinated information effort led by the highest level of the Russian leadership, reports News.bg.
This is stated in a new analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
On July 8, Medvedev said that Russia would "move forward" to achieve its military goals and "take back its land". His statements are intended to portray Western military support for Ukraine as meaningless in the face of a supposedly inevitable Russian victory.
Although often perceived as hyperbolic, such statements should not be ignored. President Vladimir Putin regularly uses Medvedev as a conduit for inflammatory rhetoric aimed at creating fear and confusion among Western leaders and weakening the political will to assist Ukraine.
Against this backdrop, Donald Trump announced that the United States would resume arms supplies to Ukraine. In parallel, discussions are underway to provide additional air defense systems and interceptors.
On the battlefield, Ukrainian forces have made new advances in the northern part of Sumy region through a series of ongoing counterattacks. At the same time, Russian forces advanced in the areas around Chasiv Yar and Toretsk.
Russia continues to expand its domestic capacity for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), reflecting their growing importance in both tactical combat operations and long-range night strikes against Ukraine.
A significant role in this is played by cooperation with Chinese companies, which facilitate the increased production of drones in Russia. However, Russian military bloggers report serious problems with the supply of drones to front-line units. This suggests that centralization and bureaucracy in the Russian army hinder the effective use of new technologies and slow down the innovation cycle of the Russian armed forces.
