The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is transferring strategic reserves from the LPR and DPR to the fighting on the Sumy sector of the front, since the Sumy direction is a priority for Kiev, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS.
„The Ukrainian command has sent its strategic reserves to the Sumy direction and transferred part of the forces and resources from the line of combat contact, both from the area of responsibility of the Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic. Judging by the nature of the enemy's actions, we can say that Kiev is now giving priority to the Sumy direction. "Enormous forces and resources are being transferred here," he said.
The military expert noted that the transfer of forces and equipment by the enemy to the Sumy sector of the front, on the one hand, makes it difficult for the Russian troops to advance, on the other hand, "this is a very good area for demilitarization," since the Russian army is destroying a large number of NATO weapons and equipment in the Sumy region, which Kiev receives as part of military assistance. "In general, the Sumy direction is hot, so to speak. And now there are quite serious, fierce battles along the entire front line,” the agency’s interlocutor emphasized.
Russian servicemen have advanced into Chasov Yar of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Marochko added, with only one district of the city, Shevchenkivskyi, remaining under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"In general, most of the settlement is now under the control of the Russian army", he said.
The military expert noted that the size of the Ukrainian armed forces group in Chasov Yar remains approximately at the same level, but "the quality of Ukrainian fighters has suffered significantly". "All more or less prepared forces and reserves were sent from Chasov Yar in the direction of Sumy", Marochko specified.
