According to the defense agreement, the United States will be able to deploy military infrastructure in Denmark near the Russian border. At the same time, Denmark cannot control what weapons are imported into its territory. The Russian ambassador to Copenhagen Vladimir Barbin warned about this threat, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The new agreement was approved by the Danish parliament in June, it allows the deployment of American military bases in the country and gives the United States access to three Danish military bases.
„The United States will be able to deploy its military infrastructure near the Russian border, generating threats to our national security from Danish territory. "The future will show how this agreement will be implemented in practice," the Russian diplomat noted.
Barbin added that Denmark's ability to guarantee the non-deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory in peacetime is questionable in connection with the current agreements.
Earlier, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that Russia could pose a real military threat to Europe and NATO in the coming years. On this basis, she called for the strictest sanctions against Moscow.
