Israel has promised to halt attacks on Syrian military targets on July 15 at the request of the administration of US President Donald Trump, an Axios correspondent in X reported.

According to the publication, the Syrian government notified Israel in advance of the deployment of tanks to the As-Suwayda area, stressing that this was done to restore order during clashes between Druze militias and Bedouins.

It was previously reported that Israel intends to take measures to protect the Druze in Syria if necessary.

On Tuesday, Israeli Air Force fighter jets launched at least four missile strikes on positions of forces controlled by the new Syrian authorities and Arab tribal militias in the provinces of As-Suwayda and Daraa in the south of the country.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a joint statement on July 15 that they had ordered troops to attack forces deployed to the city of As-Suwayda in southern Syria as part of support for the Druze.

The number of people killed in the outbreak of violence in southern Syria has exceeded 200, Agence France-Presse reported, citing a non-governmental monitoring organization.

On Sunday, clashes broke out between Druze and Bedouin in the province of As-Suwayda. Representatives of the security forces of the new Syrian authorities were subsequently sent to the scene after the overthrow of long-time President Bashar al-Assad in December. Yesterday, Syria's defense minister announced a ceasefire after the Israeli army struck Syrian security forces in Sweida to protect the Druze minority.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported tonight that the confirmed death toll in the violence had risen to 203. 92 Druze were killed, including 21 civilians executed by defense and interior ministry officials, 93 government forces, and 18 Bedouins.
