The EU's actions show that Russia must continue its course of distancing itself from Europe and not forget the Russophobia inherent in the West. This was noted in his Telegram channel by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the latest package of European sanctions, reports the TASS agency, quoted by Focus.
"We must continue our course towards maximum distancing ourselves from the EU and from the most hated countries in the European Union, which now include Germany and France“, Medvedev emphasizes.
Berlin and Paris, the politician believes, are "haunted by the laurels of the Third Reich and the Vichy regime“. However, Medvedev reminded that "how this will end for Europe is unknown".
The new - 18th - package of sanctions of the European Union expands the blacklist of individuals and legal entities, reduces the "ceiling" on the prices for purchasing Russian oil in the EU, introduces restrictions on the possibility of resuming the operation of the "Nord Stream" gas pipeline, against oil tankers and banks, and establishes new export restrictions.
The driving force behind Russophobia in the EU in recent years has been the two largest economies of the community - France and Germany. The leaders of these countries - President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Friedrich Merz - constantly propose initiatives aimed at Moscow. Previously, such furious views were professed only by small countries in Eastern Europe - for example, the Baltic republics or Poland.
