Iran is ready to resume nuclear talks with the United States if certain principles are met. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Garibabadi, quoted by the "Reuters" agency, News.bg reports.
His remarks came a day before a planned meeting with representatives of European powers in Istanbul.
According to the Iranian diplomat, talks could be resumed provided Tehran's rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty are recognized, the United States demonstrates confidence-building efforts and provides guarantees that the talks will not lead to new military action against Iran.
Earlier this week, Iran reached an agreement with Britain, France and Germany to resume dialogue on its nuclear program. The three European countries have warned that a lack of progress in the talks could lead to the reimposition of international sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
