Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told reporters that Chinese President Xi Jinping had promised to fulfill any request of the Serbian leader during the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism in Moscow in May.

Vucic, along with members of the government and Chinese Ambassador Li Ming, inspected the construction of the "Danube Corridor" highway in the eastern part of the country, which is being built by the Chinese company "Shandong".

„Xi Jinping first addressed me by name - Alexander - which is incredible for the Chinese, and said to me: „Tell me what you want and you will get it.“ I, shocked, replied: „If it is "possibly, a factory," Vucic told reporters.

Serbian Prime Minister Djurdjo Matus said in early June that Serbia and China had implemented more than 30 projects in the fields of infrastructure, industry, education and innovation in the year since the signing of the agreement to deepen strategic partnership.

In 2024, China became the largest foreign investor in Serbia, and trade turnover reached a record 8.3 billion euros.

In addition, Serbia and China expanded air traffic in 2024 and early 2025, doubling the number of destinations. Previously, there was one flight to Beijing and Tianjin each week. In September 2024, the national carrier Air Serbia launched its first flight from Belgrade to Guangzhou, and on January 10, 2025 - to Shanghai.

Vucic participated in the ceremonial launch of production at the Linglong International Europe factory in northeastern Serbia in September 2024. According to him, this is the largest investment “from scratch” in Serbian history - for 1 billion dollars.
