Azerbaijan will provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine under an order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani AZERTAC news agency reported, BTA reports.
The document emphasizes the country's commitment to humanitarian principles and its active role in providing assistance to other countries both bilaterally and through international initiatives. In recent years, Baku has repeatedly sent humanitarian supplies to Ukraine in connection with the ongoing crisis.
The relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are based on friendship and strategic partnership, supported by key agreements, including the 2000 Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership, the 2008 Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership, and the 2022 Joint Declaration of the Presidents of the two countries.
According to the order, $2 million will be allocated from the Presidential Reserve Fund in the 2025 state budget to the Ministry of Energy. These funds will be used to purchase and deliver electrical equipment manufactured in Azerbaijan to Ukraine.
The Ministry of Finance will provide the necessary financing, and the Council of Ministers will coordinate organizational issues.
