Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a congratulatory telegram to his Korean counterpart Choi Son-hee on the occasion of the liberation of the Korean Peninsula, said that Russia will not forget the exploits of the Korean People's Army soldiers in the Kursk region.
The contents of the message were reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The telegram was sent on August 15 - the anniversary of the liberation of the Korean Peninsula from Japanese colonial rule. The Russian minister thanked the authorities in the DPRK "for their caring attitude" to the memory of the Soviet soldiers who liberated the peninsula shoulder to shoulder with the Korean patriots.
“The traditions of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation were further strengthened by the participation of the Korean People's Army in the operation to liberate the Kursk region from Ukrainian neo-Nazis. The message emphasized that the Russian people will never forget the feats of the Korean People's Army servicemen“, KCNA wrote. Sergey Lavrov added that the Russian side will make every effort to implement the provisions of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
On August 16, the head of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, Choe Son-hee, sent a telegram in response. She indicated that the DPRK would not forget the Soviet soldiers who shed blood for the liberation of Korea, and that the friendly relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK, overcoming all trials and challenges, have strengthened. The visit of the State Duma delegation and Russian artists to the DPRK on the occasion of the holiday once again demonstrates the inviolability of Russian-Korean friendship, Choi Song-hee believes.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK assured that the People's Republic will remain faithful to interstate treaties, and the foreign policy departments will continue strategic communication for the sake of the consistent strengthening and development of the military alliance between the countries.
