Several Russian airports were forced to limit their operations tonight due to Ukrainian combat drones in their airspace, DPA reported, BTA reported.
Among those affected was Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, the country's second largest city, the federal aviation agency Rosaviatsia reported. Ten drones were intercepted on the outskirts of the city, Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko wrote today on Telegram. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
On Sunday, Ukrainian drones set fire to a refinery in the port city of Ust-Luga near St. Petersburg.
Other airports, including those in Pskov, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Volgograd and Nizhnekamsk, also had to temporarily suspend operations due to the threat from drones, Rosaviatsia reported.
In addition, the Russian military reported that the annexed Crimean peninsula had also been attacked by Ukrainian drones.
Meanwhile, Russia also launched drone attacks on Ukraine overnight. In some Ukrainian regions, airstrikes continued into the morning.
In the northeastern Sumy region, three people were slightly injured, local authorities reported. The Ukrainian Air Force said it had shot down 47 of a total of 59 Russian drones overnight.
