According to data from the Union of Turkish Agricultural Chambers (TZOB), in August 2025, the prices of 30 types of vegetables out of a total of 37 types of vegetables and fruits offered in the trade network increased.
The record price increase for green beans - by 56 percent - and for carrots. At a price from producers in the field of 11 Turkish liras (0.23 euros) per kilogram, carrots were sold at 47.88 liras (0.99 euros) per kilogram on supermarket shelves, i.e. 335 percent more expensive.
Next in price increase are zucchini (29.9 percent), lemons (29.7 percent), eggplant (27.5 percent) and green peppers (22.8 percent).
The consumer basket of food products became significantly heavier in August, TZOB Chairman Şemsi Bayraktar told journalists.
According to him, the sharp increase in prices of raw materials and fertilizers, especially in the last year, is straining the production capacity of agricultural producers. Although the price of diesel, a key resource for production, fell by 2.7 percent on a monthly basis, its annual increase is 21.8 percent.
Feed prices have also jumped by more than 30 percent.
