Patriarch Daniil blessed hundreds of laypeople in the Ruen Monastery "St. John of Rila" above the saint's birthplace, the village of Skrino. His Holiness led the liturgy, which lasted about 3 hours. Today is Father's Day, Father's Day. In addition to the village of Skrino, Dupnitsa is also celebrating today, as is the village of Piperkov Chiflik near Kyustendil, where a kurban for health was also prepared.
Laity welcomed Patriarch Daniil at the entrance to the monastery "St. John of Rila" to receive his blessing. His Holiness told the Bulgarian National Radio:
"Today we celebrate the memory of Saint John of Rila the Wonderworker. A little more than a millennium separates us from the time when he lived. At the same time, what serves man for salvation has not changed at all. We live in an age of high technologies, but we see that they do not give content to human life. And Saint John of Rila has acquired what is impermanent for man - love for God and for people, let us strive to acquire this - prayer, repentance, abstinence, patience, mercy. This serves our eternal salvation. Happy and blessed holiday!".
A pilgrimage procession has been organized from Sofia. There are visitors from all over the country and especially from the Southwest:
"Every Sunday we are here for service, for Sunday service. We are very excited and very happy that we have such a holy Bulgarian and we will pray to him to help Bulgaria, the Bulgarian people for a better future".
