In connection with the expected intense traffic today, the movement of heavy trucks over 12 tons is temporarily restricted on the busiest road directions: the "Trakia", "Hemus", "Struma" highways, as well as on road I-1 in the section from the "Simitli" junction to the "Kresna" junction on the "Struma" highway, reports the RIA, quoted by BNT. The aim is to make travel easier and to limit the chances of road accidents for those returning home on the last of the series of weekends.

In the morning, traffic in the area of the “Simitli“ road junction is calm, but is expected to increase in the coming hours. A temporary traffic organization has already been introduced in the area to accommodate the expected flow of cars.

A restriction for heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons will be introduced in the afternoon from 12 to 20:00. Vehicles transporting perishable goods and temperature-controlled cargo are excluded from the restrictions.

Experts remind that the main causes of serious road accidents remain high speed and improper overtaking. Therefore, they must be very careful.

„Most of all, they must be careful not to exceed the speed limit, drive a little more calmly, not to overtake improperly and to keep the distance between cars“, explained Georgi Barzakov, regional representative of the Association for the Qualification of Motorists.
According to him, the areas around Kresna and the Kresna Gorge remain risky. He also drew attention to the illegal use of the emergency lane.

„The emergency lane is used only in the event of a health problem for the driver or one of the passengers or in the event of a technical malfunction. Driving in it is extremely dangerous and prohibited,“ the expert emphasized.

There is a heavy police presence in the area, with law enforcement agencies monitoring compliance with traffic restrictions and safety.

Traffic is expected to remain intense until the end of the day, with the Traffic Police urging drivers to be patient and follow traffic rules.
