The Ministry of Health did not allow the Varna hospital "St. Anna" to apply for a new loan of eight million euros, with which to refinance previous obligations and pay suppliers.

After the General Meeting held today, the executive director of the medical institution, Dr. Krasimir Petrov, indicated that the representative of the state, which owns about 72 percent of the hospital, voted "abstained", which stops the possibility of the new loan. Dr. Petrov recalled that the rehabilitation program prepared by the hospital has not been approved by the Ministry of Health.

The same is happening with the second rehabilitation plan revised by financial experts. He was categorical that if the rehabilitation of the hospital means cutting structures and departments, he will not agree, as this threatens Varna and the region to be left without emergency medical care.

Krassimir Petrov added that the increase in the minimum wage is the main reason for the difficult financial situation of the hospital.

Petrov also said that a new date will be set for the General Assembly of “St. Anna”, which can take place in 45 days at the earliest and added that if money is not found soon, the health facility is threatened with closure due to the seizure of accounts by creditors.
