Radan Kanev: The model of the conquered state will not go away with Peevski

The rule of law in Bulgaria has not yet been fully established and one of the reasons for this is the overconcentration of power in recent years

Our society has great goals, one of which is the establishment of a rule of law. The rule of law in Bulgaria has not yet been fully established and one of the reasons for this is the overconcentration of power in recent years. This was stated in an interview with “Panorama“ on BNT by the Bulgarian MEP from the EPP Radan Kanev.

When asked whether he thinks there could be interaction between the ruling party from “Progressive Bulgaria“ and the opposition in the person of the PP-DB for ensuring a qualified majority of 160 votes for the election of a new Supreme Judicial Council, Radan Kanev replied that these 160 votes are not as important as laying the foundation for building a state based on the rule of law.

In his words, as long as the security services in our country “command“ the judicial system in the country, we will never be a state based on the rule of law or a constitutional state.

The model of the controlled state will not leave with Peevski. Its dismantling will be an extremely difficult and lengthy process, the MEP warned.

According to him, in order for things to normalize in this direction, it is necessary for the people who are elected to lead the justice system in our country to have nothing to do with either the National Security Agency, intelligence, or the “cop structures“, and not to be graduates of the “police school in Simeonovo“.

Regarding the disputes in the PP-DB coalition, Radan Kanev called on them to be united, because only in this way will they be strong enough to oppose any possible abuse of the enormous power that “Progressive Bulgaria“ received in the elections.
