The scandal surrounding the Ministry of Interior has the potential to shift the electoral picture, it has the potential to have a very negative impact on the PP-DB coalition, and here is the important stipulation – who will emerge less affected.

Sociologist Stefan Georgiev commented to the BNR.

He recalled the appeals by PP-DB representatives to President Rumen Radev not to sign the decree on the official cabinet. According to him, all the actions and everything that happens will lead to destabilization of the periphery – the people who are hesitating whether to vote.

"We have gotten used to elections being condensed from the cores in the last few years. The last time we saw a slightly higher voter turnout was in the April 2021 election – after the protests, the first election that unlocked that merry-go-round. From then until now, between 2.6 million – 2.7 million Bulgarian citizens voted in parliamentary elections. Usually in European elections it is much lower. Here, perhaps, will be the explanation and analysis of what is the practice and strategy of the individual political parties and coalitions, so that they can mobilize them".

In his words, discouragement is also a matter of tactics. This is always in the interest of those who enjoy stronger electoral health, the sociologist stressed.

In the show "Above all" he noted that already during the negotiation process the election campaign had started. And the arguments about who would be with whom before or after the elections are part of a conversation that aims, on the one hand, to "cleanse the already stale and tarnished image of those who claimed to be able to rule the country with a new morality", and on the other hand is a matter of mobilization potential, Stefan Georgiev added his opinion. According to him, when the results are announced by the CEC, then another type of talk begins. The sociologist hopes to overcome "this puberty" so that there can be a more consistent political process.
