Ivaylo Mirchev on "Botash": The big Euro-Atlantic tigers GERB and DPS have become little tigers

There is also a more interesting question - why was there an attempt in the parliament to cover up the whole "Botash" affair. After pressure from our side, the report was finally introduced in the National Assembly

At this stage, we have no intention of taking such a step. This is what he said in the show "Face to Face" on BTV the deputy from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" Ivaylo Mirchev in response to a question about whether they will ask the coalition for the resignation of the Speaker of the National Assembly Rosen Zhelyazkov.

We will closely monitor his work and if there is a reason, we will ask for it, he added.

Mirchev also commented on the report of the parliamentary commission, which concluded the inspection of the contract between "Bulgargaz" and the Turkish company "Botash", concluded by the caretaker government of Galab Donev in early 2023.

This contract was concluded for 13 years, with a penalty of 2.2 billion, and under it we pay 1 million BGN per day, even if we do not receive gas. The key thing in the contract in question is that nowhere does it say that Russian gas cannot be transported. This is a fundamental problem. A contract has been signed that will supply Europe with Russian gas. This treaty was concluded after the war in Ukraine started, sanctions were imposed on Russia. And yet President Radev and his caretaker government conclude this contract. The other thing that became clear is that there was no conversation on the subject with the European Commission. We do not want the opinion of the European Commission, because we know what the answer will be, pointed out the deputy from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria".

There is also a more interesting question – why an attempt was made in the parliament to cover up the whole "Botash" affair. After pressure from our side, the report was finally introduced in the National Assembly. The question is why GERB and DPS do not take a position on the matter. These parties, which used to present themselves as big Euro-Atlantic tigers, are now appearing like little tigers, sweetly waving their paws. The answer here lies in the agreement with Radev for the official cabinet. The office is apparently divided into quotas – apart from GERB, there are also ministers of Radev and DPS, emphasized Ivaylo Mirchev.

He defended the constitutional changes related to caretaker government.

When Radev has appointed an arbitrary ficus as prime minister, it is another thing to have a Constitution that allows the prime minister not to be subservient to the president. Whoever is appointed as Prime Minister must have the courage to form a government that moves the country forward. The prime minister, whoever he is, must be a statesman and behave like a statesman, Mirchev also said.

What we have adopted now in the Law on Judicial Power is more than what we wanted in 2015 in Hristo Ivanov's constitutional reform. The change has already started with the Constitution after 15 years of timelessness, with the changes in the Law on the Judiciary, the changes will continue, said the MP from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria".
