According to Alexander Nikolov, there is a chance to get the compensation of more than 400 million euros that we want from Gazprom

The justification for this amount and this claim is something that should be investigated in great detail before making loud statements, said the former energy minister

There is always a chance that Bulgaria will receive the compensation in the amount of over 400 million euros that it wants from “Gazprom”, but in such cases the details are the most important. The justification for this amount and this claim is something that needs to be investigated in great detail before such statements are made.

This is what former Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov said on the air of Euronews Bulgaria.

"In my assessment, there are drastic differences between what Bulgaria should claim and what is being reported now. There are public data in which you can see the volumes that Bulgaria receives, as the contract is, how long it has not been implemented, what the damages are based on prices only from non-delivery, what the missed benefits are," he said.

According to Nikolov, it is strange that some numbers are simply put in the public space because there are too many question marks. Over the years, the “Energy“ it was very often used for political gifts, he also noted.

According to the energy expert Dimitar Kuyumdzhiev, our country should make claims for the violated clause of the contract.

"What is our main reason, that regardless of the decree issued by the Russian President Putin, we have a contract signed by both parties and it is clearly stated in what currency we will pay for the gas. The fact that we have refused to pay in rubles – no such condition is mentioned in the contract, so we have the right to claim," said the expert.

According to Kuyumdzhiev, whether this violation of conditions is enough for our country to condemn “Gazprom”, remains to be seen.
