Dozens of firefighters remained on duty during the night in Southwestern Bulgaria, Nova TV reports. On Tuesday, a fire broke out in the municipality of Strumyani, a state of emergency was declared. People from two villages - Tsaparevo and Karpelevo were evacuated.
Because of the fiery element, nearly 20,000 acres of forest burned, and 110 people had to leave their homes. There were more than 23 firefighting vehicles on the ground, assisted by employees of the State Forestry, the Metropolitan Emergency Service and volunteers. Military were located in the area of the village of Karpelevo.
In order to join the battle with the flames, the two French planes that were helping to extinguish the fire on our border with Greece were diverted to Blagoevgradsko.
