Radostin Vassilev: The next vote of no confidence may cause major upheavals in GERB

"Despite the fact that Bulgaria has largely failed to appoint interior ministers in recent years, Daniel Mitov is perhaps the most incompetent, inadequate and will never be able to get to grips with the Ministry of Interior system," commented the leader of MECH

"The planned replacement of the chairman of SANS is "a pre-election attempt to take control of the services by GERB".

This was commented to the Bulgarian National Radio by the leader of the MECH party, Radostin Vassilev.

"This is a pre-election attempt to take control of the services by GERB, so that elections can be held according to the standard that you and we have become accustomed to over the last 10-15 years. Plamen Tonchev, perhaps shortly after Radev's fist, completely disappeared from the State Security Agency and this is perhaps the reason why this happened. Now they will try to replace him in a commission that practically has no activity - a sinecure position that will allow some of the deputy chairmen - one of whom is very close to Delyan Peevski, prone to even disrupting elections", he explained in an interview for the program "Nedelya 150".
Vassilev declared that he stands behind the demand for the resignation of the Minister of Internal Affairs:

"Despite the fact that Bulgaria has largely failed to appoint interior ministers in recent years, Daniel Mitov is perhaps the most incompetent, inadequate and will never be able to get to grips with the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During his time, in a very short period of time, not without his inaction, some of the biggest scandals related to corruption within the Ministry of Internal Affairs took place. It is not so scary that he is not competent. What was more scary was that when we invited him to parliament on all these cases to explain what the executive leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs intends to do in his person, he was actually covering up and claiming that there are no angels and demons and everyone in the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actually on the bad side of the barricade, which is not at all the case. The majority of the system's employees are not corrupt and are simply victims of the leadership, which has long been politicized. Perhaps the next vote of no confidence will be on the topic of failure in domestic politics. Seeing the passivity of the PP-DB, it may be necessary for MECH to launch a new vote of no confidence in the summer, before the vacation, in connection with the failure of Daniel Mitov.

According to him, the next vote of no confidence may cause major tremors in GERB, which, in his words, is currently divided in half by Peevski. "These votes have their role", the MECH leader is categorical.

We need to go to elections, he believes, and predicts that the result of such elections would be quite different.

"If there is no extreme catharsis associated with revolutionary cataclysms or other actions, Bulgaria can go through political evolution, through cleansing only after a series of elections. /.../ Apparently, we will have to experience a series of betrayals that give energy to MECH and to the people who see consistency in our politics. I don't want us to be constantly fighting the Peevski and Borisov model either, but apparently this thing will continue for a while longer."

According to him, ITN and BSP no longer exist on the political scene.

Vassilev sees no difference between the current government and the "corrupt governments of GERB from the recent past". He defined the 100 days of the government as "days of absolute helplessness". According to him, there is no ministry where anything great has been done for the benefit of the people. The MECH leader pointed out that everyone is fixated on the eurozone, but this is a big goal for a very small part of Bulgarian society.

"They have no free will. They are bound by addictions, by corruption, by historical burdens. These 100 days are a failure. Whether they become 200 or 300 - nothing will change".

According to him, now was not the most appropriate time to adopt the euro. He believes that it would be most appropriate to have a referendum on the subject.

We will support the removal of absolutely all immunities, Radostin Vassilev also declared. According to him, preserving immunities sends an extremely bad signal to society.
