Heavy traffic towards Greece today. Travelers are reporting traffic jams on the road to our southern neighbor.
The first traffic jam is on the “Struma“ highway, before Simitli and is about 3 kilometers away.
The Road Agency announced that reverse traffic has been introduced in the area - with two lanes in the direction of “Kulata“.
There is also a traffic jam in the Kresna Gorge, due to the pedestrian path on the main road E-79, in the city center.
For travelers heading towards Greece there will be two lanes for traffic. This is in effect until 8:00 p.m. in the evening.
A problem with traffic in this direction is also being caused by repairs to the “Struma” highway in the Pernik region. The traffic jams there began after 10 am this morning. Last night there were also kilometer-long queues.
New repairs block parts of the “Trakia“ highway near Plovdiv, traffic towards Burgas is difficult.
With the first day of astronomical summer, new traffic jams began on the main road to the sea - the “Trakia“ highway. Due to another stage of the repair work, another section near Plovdiv is temporarily closed.
Near Plovdiv, traffic in the section between the 130th and 134th kilometers in the direction of Burgas is very difficult. The repairs there have already started and will continue until tomorrow morning. Drivers should prepare for serious delays, especially during peak hours.
The situation is even more tense in the section between the 10th and 23rd kilometers, where traffic in the direction of Burgas is completely restricted. Traffic is being redirected to the Sofia lane, which leads to additional traffic jams and the risk of traffic jams.
Repair work also continues in the Sliven region, in the 10-kilometer section between the 241st and 251st kilometers in the direction of Burgas. Traffic is limited there, and traffic jams are frequent, especially on weekends.
Better news comes from Pazardzhik - in the repaired section, both lanes are now open, although finishing work is still ongoing.
The “Road Infrastructure“ Agency calls on all drivers to drive carefully, follow the restrictions and be patient. With the onset of the summer season, traffic on the “Thrace“ highway traditionally increases, and repairs complicate traffic even more.
