Georgi Kiryakov: The rift has occurred within the PP-DB coalition itself, but still on an informal level

According to the political scientist, the only thing that can continue to bring the two parties together is the idea that they will not be able to be so strong and with such weight on their own

"Catalyzing processes are underway in the PP-DB. The ultimatum that the DB independently gives to the PP is a clear sign that a rift is possible at some future moment". This was stated by political scientist Georgi Kiryakov to the Bulgarian National Radio.

"One option is before the presidential elections, because they will not be able to agree on a single candidate, internal elections, they will not be able to reach any consensus on what the presidential candidate of this coalition should be at all. The other option is in the event of possible early parliamentary elections. If there is an option to have early parliamentary and presidential elections at the same time, it is also very likely that such a rift will occur. But the rift has occurred within the coalition itself, but still on an informal level. Formally - it remains to be seen whether and when it will occur. There are no longer any serious points of contact between the two parties - PP and DB, and such scandals will only deepen the differences between them", he expressed his opinion.
In his words, these catalyzing processes in the coalition have been developing for a long time. The political scientist emphasized that the differences between the parties were also visible in the by-elections for several regions:

"Where the candidates were from DB, PP did not provide much support. Where there was a PP candidate, the DB did not provide support".

According to him, the only thing that can continue to bring the two parties together is the idea that they will not be able to be so strong and with such weight on their own:

"After every split and independent appearance of parties from this part of the political spectrum, we see a failure in the elections. After this failure, the broken Avars will gather. If they start to split, there will be a battle for the remaining electorates of the two parts – who will go to whom".

"It is not only Peevski who is to blame here, nor only Borisov. The PP leadership is also to blame here," Kiryakov was categorical in an interview for the program "Before All".

According to him, it will not come to a request for the resignations of the PP leaders, but rather to a secession from the party and joining another.
Currently, the possibility of the president creating a party after the end of his term and actively entering the party field is being calculated, the political scientist commented in response to a question about whether early parliamentary elections are possible by the end of the year.

"Such a preventive action would prevent such an option - it would doom the creation of a party by the president to failure in advance, because he would not have time if they decided to hold elections before the end of his term. Thus, GERB-SDF and MRF-NN would be the leaders in such a situation, i.e. they would calculate the most benefits".
