We referred the matter to the European Prosecutor's Office because we found anomalies related to recycling. We are talking about the period - 2016-2021. The same truck leaves the Sofia waste processing plant supposedly loaded with plastic. 20 minutes later, the same truck unloads household waste at the landfill in Dolni Bogrov. During this time, it cannot even get there. This was explained to the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev.
He added that our prosecutor's office has also been referred.
Terziev also commented on the corruption scandal with the district mayors.
„Nikola Barbutov was recommended by a nomination group among all parties in the group. An analysis is being made on how to tighten all measures so that there are no more corruption scandals. We are considering having a special unit to fight corruption in the Sofia Municipality, and technology will be used to monitor anomalies in public procurement. There must be clear assignments with objective criteria, and candidates with unclear motives should not be removed,“ the mayor of Sofia also said.
The scandal erupted after the district mayors of “Lyulin“ and “Mladost“, together with two municipal councilors, announced that they were leaving the political party “We Continue the Change“ due to systematic pressure to manipulate public procurement and redirect funds to the party coffers.
