Dust devil in the Trakia Motorway area, near Nova Zagora, direction Sofia - Burgas.

Today, it can be said that it is literally a hellish day on the "Trakia" highway! A number of fires completely blocked traffic on the highway. Not only that, but a tornado also twisted in the midst of the fiery horror.

But that's not all. It turned out that there was a so-called "dust devil" on the "Trakia" highway. This is clear from a publication by Meteo Balkans.

It appeared near Nova Zagora, direction Sofia-Burgas.

The term "dust devil" (in English: dust devil) is used to refer to a small, swirling vortex of dust, sand and air that usually forms in hot, dry weather.

It is a rotating column of air that rises upward and sucks dust, sand, leaves and other light particles from the Earth's surface.

It usually forms during hot, sunny days when the Earth's surface is heated unevenly. It is most often observed in deserts, dry plains, dusty roads or agricultural areas.

It is not a tornado, although it looks like a miniature version of one — a dust devil is weaker and shorter-lived, and usually does not cause damage.

Dust devils have also been observed on Mars! They are visible as thin, dark streaks on the surface of the Red Planet and scientists study them with interest.
