One of the victims killed in the attack on a synagogue in Manchester was shot by a police officer during attempts to control the situation. This was announced by the authorities in a statement quoted by “Reuters“, reports News.bg.

“It is currently believed that the suspect, Jihad Al Shami, did not have a firearm and the only shots were fired by an authorized officer of Greater Manchester Police (GMP)“, the official statement said.

“It follows that further forensic examination may reveal that the fatal wound was the result of a tragic and unintended consequence of the urgently needed "actions taken by my officers to stop this brutal attack," GMP added.

According to police, one of the injured, who is currently in hospital, also suffered a gunshot wound. Both victims, who are believed to have been shot by police fire, were outside the synagogue doors.
