Taiwan is stocking up on anti-drone systems, buying 635

The project's value is estimated at over 312 million US dollars

Taiwan's Ministry of Defense intends to purchase no less than 635 lightweight anti-drone systems over the next three years, the Taipei Times newspaper reported, indicating that the project's value is estimated at 9.67 billion Taiwanese dollars (over 312 million US dollars), TASS reported, quoted by BTA.

The project still needs to be approved by the island's legislature. Manufacturers who intend to participate in the project must present a system capable of intercepting drones, creating interference and distorting navigation data. The Defense Ministry said the system should be lightweight and compact enough to be transported by cars and small boats, and should take no more than 15 minutes to install by one or two operators. It should be able to detect more than 10 targets within a 4km radius and engage unmanned aerial vehicles operating at frequencies of 433 megahertz and 5.8 gigahertz at ranges of up to 2km.

The companies selected to implement the project must deliver the first batch of 242 systems for testing within 180 days of receiving the contract award notification, and the second batch of 393 systems within 180 days of passing operational tests, the newspaper reported.
