Syrsky said the situation in Zaporizhia region has worsened

Zelensky said today that the situation in the besieged city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk remains difficult

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Gen. Oleksandr Syrsky, said today that the situation "has significantly deteriorated" in parts of southeastern Ukraine's Zaporizhia region, where heavy fighting with Russian forces is taking place, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

"The situation has significantly deteriorated in the directions of Oleksandrovka and Gulyaipole, where, using its numerical advantage in manpower and equipment, the enemy is advancing in fierce battles and has captured three villages," wrote Gen. Syrianski on his Telegram channel.

Earlier today, Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported that Russian forces had stepped up their attacks in Zaporizhia region, forcing Ukrainian troops to withdraw from positions near five villages in the region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that the situation in the besieged town of Pokrovsk in Donetsk remained difficult and that bad weather was facilitating Russian attacks, which he said were increasing in scale, Reuters reported.
