The Assistant Director of the "Strategic Analyses, Services and Internationalization" sector of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC) Bojan Stanić said today that there are currently several options when it comes to the decision regarding NIS, but that nationalization as a solution is not good because it would be a bad signal for other investors, especially those who do not come from the West, Tanjug writes.

In response to the question of what solution could be found in seven days, Stanić said that it is a very short time.

Finance Minister Sinisa Mališ also stressed that Serbia will not steal from anyone and there will be no confiscation or nationalization, but since the American side wants a change of ownership, negotiations with a third party are underway.

Earlier, Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Makut convened an extraordinary meeting of the government. President Aleksandar Vučić, Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić, as well as heads of all key state-owned enterprises participated in the discussion. Regarding the fate of the company, Vučić said that the decision will be made within the next seven days.

The Serbian president stressed that he wants to avoid the "confiscation" of the Russian shares.

We recall that earlier today, Energy Minister Dubravka Džedović-Handanović said that Serbia is preparing to consider the nationalization of NIS amid the US demand for the complete withdrawal of Russian shareholders. According to the minister, Belgrade is facing "one of the most difficult decisions in the country's modern history, and the authorities expect understanding from Moscow."
