Twenty-three insurgents were killed in two military operations on the Afghan border, the Pakistani army said, quoted by Agence France-Presse. This comes a week after a suicide bombing in Islamabad that killed 12 people, BTA reports.

“On November 19, 23 insurgents were killed“, the army said in an official statement, specifying that they were members of the Pakistani Taliban.

The operation was carried out in the Kurram district, in the mountainous Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, near the border with Afghanistan.

A statement from the armed forces stressed: “Pakistan will continue to do everything in its power to eliminate the terrorist threat supported and financed by foreign powers in the country.“
