The US and Ukraine held productive talks on a potential agreement to end Russia's war, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said, adding that only "a few points of disagreement" remain, world agencies reported, BTA reported.

Levitt also said on the "Fox News" show "The Story" that US President Donald Trump is optimistic that an agreement to end the war can be concluded.

According to her, President Trump's team and the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva managed to "discuss in detail" the 28-point peace plan and are now left “just a few points of disagreement“.

“President Trump has stopped funding this war, but the United States continues to sell large amounts of weapons to NATO. We can't do this forever. The president wants this war to end,“ Levitt added.

The White House press secretary also said that no meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was scheduled for this week.

Earlier, Reuters reported, citing its sources, that Zelensky could visit the United States as early as this week to discuss with Trump sensitive aspects of the plan to end the war in Ukraine.

Levitt also said that it was not true that Trump was more favorable to one side or the other in the war.
