Spain protests government corruption

Thousands of people protested in Madrid against government corruption and called for parliamentary elections in Spain, Europa Press reports.

According to the agency, the protests were organized by the opposition right-wing Popular Party (PP). People gathered in the square near the Debod temple in Madrid with Spanish flags and posters calling for the resignation of the current government.

According to Europa Press, the protesters included the leader of the PP, Alberto Nunes Feijoo, the president of the autonomous community of Madrid, Isabel Ayuso, and former Spanish prime ministers, José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy.

Europa Press did not provide the exact number of protesters. The Spanish newspaper Vanguardia, citing data from the Popular Party, claimed that 80,000 people attended the rally.
