China will impose provisional tariffs of 21.9 to 42.7 percent on certain dairy products imported from the European Union, effective December 23, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

The measure is based on a preliminary ruling on an anti-subsidy investigation, the ministry said. The announcement states that the investigation has established grounds for applying provisional countervailing measures against some imports of dairy products from the EU.

The tariff rates will vary depending on the manufacturer and the specific product, and the measures will remain in force until the final investigation is completed.
