The Kremlin said on Monday that two days of US-brokered talks in Abu Dhabi to resolve the conflict in Ukraine were complicated but constructive and that they would continue, Reuters reported, citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, BTA reported.

Ukraine and Russia concluded the second stage of talks yesterday, with the two sides carrying out a major prisoner exchange and agreeing to resume talks soon.

“The work continues“, Peskov said. “The work lasted two days, the work was constructive and at the same time very complicated. It will continue,“ the Kremlin spokesman stressed.

He also said that both Russia and the United States recognize the need to organize talks on nuclear arms control soon, after the expiration yesterday of the “New START“ treaty, which limited the number of strategic missiles, carriers and warheads.

Peskov said that during the talks in Abu Dhabi, the two sides agreed to act responsibly after the expiration of the treaty signed in 2010.

The Kremlin spokesman also expressed hope that the talks between Iran and the United States in Oman would yield results and lead to de-escalation, and called on all parties to show restraint in the meantime.

Iran and the United States began talks today to try to overcome their serious differences over Tehran's nuclear program, Oman mediated between the two sides. However, a dispute over the expansion of the agenda has jeopardized diplomatic efforts and created the danger of provoking a new conflict in the Middle East.
