Russian special services have intensified their work in Europe, using the network of former PMC members to search for sabotage contractors. According to Western sources, it is about recruiting so-called "one-time agents", writes the Financial Times, quoted by Focus.
Russian intelligence and the FSB are using former members of the "Wagner" PMC to search for contractors in European countries.
According to sources in Western publications, it is about recruiting so-called "one-time agents".
According to information from sources in Western publications, the former recruiters who previously attracted Russians to participate in hostilities, in particular in Ukraine, have received a new task – selection of economically vulnerable people in the EU to carry out tasks for the special services.
This involves attracting individuals who are willing to carry out orders for a fee - from arson to the distribution of extremist materials.
Following the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats from a number of European Union capitals, the capabilities of the traditional agent network have decreased, which is prompting Moscow to seek alternative tools for influence.
It is reported that recruiters use knowledge of local languages, as well as channels on Telegram and other online platforms to search for candidates among marginalized groups.
According to experts, this model increases the risk of sabotage attempts and violent actions on the territory of EU and NATO countries, although a significant part of such schemes are already being revealed and thwarted by security services.
