The second day of talks between Russia and Ukraine in Geneva to end the nearly four-year war ended today without any significant results, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

After nearly two hours of negotiations mediated by the US, the Russian delegation left the meeting, TASS reported.

The head of the delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, described the talks as "difficult but objective" and said that no results had been achieved. He added that a new round of talks was planned for the near future.

"The talks lasted two days - yesterday in very long sessions in different formats, and today for another two hours," TASS quoted Medinsky - former Minister of Culture and current advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian negotiator held a closed-door meeting with the Ukrainians in Geneva after the official talks, Russia's RIA news agency reported.

Russian state media described the atmosphere in Geneva as "very tense." In contrast, US special envoy Steve Witkoff wrote on the social network "Ex" that President Donald Trump's efforts to bring the two sides closer together had made "significant progress."

Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov confirmed the conclusion of the two-day meeting. Speaking more carefully, he described the discussions as "intense and substantial."

"There is progress, but at this stage no details can be given," Umerov said.

The next step is to reach a "level of agreement“, which could be presented to President Volodymyr Zelensky, he added.
