In the next four years, it will be key to stay aloof, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in a television interview today, quoted by the national news agency MTI, BTA reports.

“I think the key words for the next four years are “staying aloof“. Can we stay aloof from the war, can we stay aloof from sending military aid and can we stay aloof from providing financial aid“, Orban said.

In the interview for the private ATV television station, the prime minister said that he did not see “anyone among the political leaders“, except himself, who would have a better chance of keeping Hungary out of the war. "That's why I'm talking about the next four years. That's why I'm running for office," he added.

He said that in the war between Russia and Ukraine, member states support Ukraine, while Hungary, Slovakia "and maybe a little" the Czech Republic say it's not their war. He added that Ukraine and the EU want to convince the Hungarians to join the war.
