Tehran will decide in due time to punish those responsible for the assassination of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“A decision to punish those responsible for this crime will be made in Tehran at the right moment“, he said.

A large-scale Israeli-American operation against Iran began on February 28. Tel Aviv said its goal is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Washington threatened to destroy Iran's navy and defense industry and called on the country's citizens to overthrow the regime.

On the first day of the attack, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. The country declared 40 days of mourning. Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military targets in the Middle East.
