North Korea condemned Japan's plans to deploy long-range anti-ship missiles in its southwestern region, calling the move a plot by Tokyo to revive its militaristic past, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.

The DPRK's accusation comes after Japan announced that upgraded Type-12 missiles would be deployed at the Kanggun camp in Kumamoto Prefecture on March 31. Pyongyang also condemned Japan's intention to deploy long-range ballistic missiles in other areas, including Shizuoka Prefecture.

The authorities in Pyongyang note that regional security is threatened by Japan's reckless move to revive its militaristic past.

"If Japan continues to behave recklessly, it will find itself in a bad situation, crossing the red line, which will inevitably lead to the sinking of the archipelago," North Korea said.
